Ecotone is a new literary journal published by the Creative Writing Department at the University of North Carolina Wilmington. It seems especially suited for our particular MFA program in Creative Writing, given its focus on place and the fact that the editors "seek to publish creative work about the environment and the natural world while avoiding the hushed tones and clichés of much of so-called nature writing." We were able to circumnavigate the usual brick wall that we come up against when we want to subscribe to new journals by taking advantage of Ecotone's generous payment plan that would allow us to pay one time for a "lifetime subscription," in effect treating the purchase like a book.
