Since I'm a proponent of the pedagogical possibilities inherent in social networking sites like Facebook, I'm very pleased to see that Vince Gotera at the University of Northern Iowa has taken the initiative to create an index of Facebook creative writing "groups".  The administrators are quick to note that the groups listed in the Index are limited to those that represent "presses, magazines, workshop communities, writing programs, book sites, author pages, writers' groups, and so on". Groups that are literary but not expressly concerned with creative writing (i.e. groups created to discuss the works of specific authors) are not listed here. The index is constantly being updated, and, as Facebook continues to grow, should prove to be an invaluable resource to those interested in networking and connecting with creative writers, editors, and publishers on Facebook.
