Ok, not totally organic. But a list of cool places to eat, visit, and/or know about in Ames. The list is ever-growing, so check back soon.
Restaurants and Bars:
Check-out www.amesbeat.com and www.ameseats.com for restaurants (and menus) in Ames. Or visit our recommendations, which include...

Cafe Beaudelaire is cool for lots of reason, one of which is that it's the only place in town I know of
where you can get a grass finished hamburger. They're from Brazil, though. (The hamburgers, I mean.)
Anyway, lots of flavored coffees, international drinks, good food. Open mic nite on Wednesdays at 10.

And both Hy-Vees are stocking more and more local and organic products.
It's also good to know that ISU Dining is making a great effort to purchase local and sustainably
produced foods through the Farm to ISU program. Here's where to find info:
www.dining.iastate.edu/farm_to_ISU
Plus, there are lots of area CSAs, where you can purchase shares of produce from area farmers. One
good place to look is Farm to Folk (www.farmtofolk.com). Deliveries and pick-up take place at a church downtown.
Ames Farmers' Markets: http://www.localharvest.org/farmers-markets/M1811 (localharvest.org is, in itself, an awesome website).
Other places of note for sustainably produced edibles and drinkables:
Prairie Moon Winery grows their grapes organically and is just a cool place to visit.
3801 W 190th St
Ames, IA 50014

Picket Fence Creamery in Woodward has a great little store full of organic and grassfed dairy, beef, and
pork (as well as other area products). Plus, it's just a great place to go. They have 80 Jersey cows and
lots of cats. Meow.

Woodward, Iowa 50276

The ISU Student Organic Farm. It's located at the hort research station up just east of Gilbert. You
can volunteer, learn, and come home with lots of tasty veggies. Plus, there are community plots available
for cheap.
