Pico Iyer, one of our most respected travel writers, is the author of several books about cultures converging.  His complete list of books includes The Global Soul: Jet Lag, Shopping Malls, and the Search for Home; Tropical Classical: Essays from Several Directions; Abandon; Cuba and the Night: A Novel;Falling Off the Map: Some Lonely Places of the World; The Lady and the Monk: Four Seasons in Kyoto;Video Night in Kathmandu: And Other Reports from the Not-So-Far East; and The Recovery of Innocence.  The Open Road: The Global Journey of the Fourteenth Dalai Lama  (2009), covers three decades of his friendship with the Dalai Lama, explaining his work and ideas about politics, science, technology, and religion.
