Christiana Langenberg Awarded Great River Writer's Retreat

Award included six nights residency at the Benet House Retreat Center in Rock Island, Illinois, a travel stipend, and an invitation to read to the literary community of the Quad Cities.

Christiana Langenberg has been awarded a Great River Writer's Retreat.  Her submission was chosen from a pool of highly-qualified applicants to attend a retreat at Benet House in Rock Island, Illinois, for a week in September, 2011.  Langenberg spent her time in residence working on a braided nonfiction essay that juxtaposes two narratives: one which reveals the consequences of a tragedy involving an Asian-American family and the other, which explores the unique perspectives of a child with multiple disabilities.

On Friday, September 9, 2011, at 7 p.m. she presented portions of the work she completed during her retreat at a public reading at the Midwest Writing Center at the Bucktown Center for the Arts in Davenport, Iowa.
