Gloria Betcher Wins Excellence in Teaching Award from National Professional Organization

Dr. Gloria Betcher received the Award for Excellence in Teaching from the Southeastern Medieval Association at their annual meeting October 3-6, 2007.

The Southeastern Medieval Association's Award for Excellence in Teaching recognizes the outstanding teaching of medieval studies courses in the arts, humanities, and social sciences. Nominees are judged on the basis of a letter of nomination, consistently high student evaluations in the past three years, and letters of recommendation from colleagues, deans, and students. Dr. Betcher is the first recipient of this newly established award.

The Southeastern Medieval Association award is Dr. Betcher's second teaching recognition of 2007. She also received a Memorable Teacher Recognition from the Iowa State University Center for Excellence in Learning and Teaching in April 2007. This student-nominated recognition was presented to 33 of Iowa State's most memorable faculty members whom students believe made a significant impact on their education.
