Inauguaral Issue of Literature in the Early American Republic (LEAR) is Published

“We are proud of our first volume of Literature in the Early American Republic. LEAR is the only journal devoted to the literature of America’s early republic period, and we look forward to continuing to publish, year after year, high quality research on this exciting and pivotal moment in our United States literary history.” --Dr. Matthew Sivils, Co-Editor, LEAR

Matthew Wynn Sivils, coeditor of Literature in the Early American Republic (LEAR), is proud to announce the publication of the journal’s inaugural volume. LEAR is a peer-reviewed, scholarly annual that publishes articles about the literary culture of the United States from roughly the adoption of the Constitution in 1789 to the death of James Fenimore Cooper in 1851.

LEAR has the distinction of being the only scholarly literary journal based at Iowa State. The journal’s publisher, AMS Press, handles several renowned scholarly annuals, including Dickens Studies Annual, The Eighteenth-Century Novel, Resources for American Literary Studies, Spenser Studies, and others.
