Kathy Hickok Receives 2008 "Advancing One Community" Award in Honor of Martin Luther King, Jr.

Dr. Kathy Hickok

Kathy Hickok received the 2008 "Advancing One Community" Award at the Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. celebration on January 24th, 2008.  The "Advancing One Community" award is given to an individual at Iowa State University who has demonstrated commitment to the principles and goals of Dr. King over a sustained period of time.  Specifically, the honoree will have pursued nonviolent actions to create an inclusive, multiculural community and/or bring about systematic change aimed at reducing injustice and inequity at Iowa State University.  Dr. Hickok is a professor of English and Women's Studies, and Professor-in-Charge of the ISU Carver Academy.
