Applying to the Program
An overview of how to apply to the RPC doctoral program.
The doctoral program in RPC invites applications from individuals with prior academic and professional work outside of English. Applicants to the program must meet the following requirements:
- a bachelor's or master's degree from a United States college or university, or the equivalent from a foreign institution
- satisfactory completion of the Graduate Record Examination (GRE), as determined by the English Department Graduate Admissions Committee
- for nonnative speakers of English, a Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) minimum score of 111 IBT/273 CBT/640 PBT, a minimum score of 25 IBT Writing or 5.0 CBT Essay Rating (IELTS 7.5 minimum score with 7.0 Writing score also accepted), and an audio or video file demonstrating the applicant's spoken-English proficiency.
