Rhetoric and Professional Communication Publications Based Here

The RPC Program is host to a number of nationally-known scholarly publications in the fields of rhetoric and professional communication, both in print and online.

BAC

Business and Administrative Communication

Business and Administrative Communication, eighth edition, is a textbook published by McGraw-Hill for courses in business and professional communication. Originally written by Kitty O. Locker at the Ohio State University, the textbook is today by RPC professor Donna Kienzler, and the eighth edition lists both authors.

EServer

EServer

Founded in 1990, the EServer hosts fifty collections (websites) in the arts and humanities, in total publishing more than 35,000 works online to more than two million readers per month. It is currently rated by Alexa (the division of Amazon which tracks website readership) as the most popular humanities website in the world.

JBC

Journal of Business Communication

The Journal of Business Communication (JBC) publishes manuscripts that contribute to knowledge and theory of business communication as a distinct, multifaceted field approached through the administrative disciplines, the liberal arts, and the social sciences. According to N. Lamar Reinch, Jr., JBC "has been the leading source of business communication research for 40 years." JBC is edited by RPC professor Margaret Baker Graham.

JBTC

Journal of Business and Technical Communication

JBTC, a refereed journal founded in 1986 at Iowa State, serves as a forum for discussion of practices, problems, and trends in professional communication. JBTC primarily publishes article-length research studies but also features approaches and practices pieces, commentaries, book and software reviews, and comments and responses. It has frequently won the National Council of Teachers of English (NCTE) award presented nationally for excellence in publications in technical and scientific communication. JBTC is edited by RPC professor David R. Russell.

Quintilian's Institutes of Oratory

Quintilian's treatise on the art of oratory is an exhaustive encyclopedia of Roman educational practices that has been treasured for centuries by Western scholars for both its scope and depth. This hypertextual version of the Institutes is an edited version of all twelve books from the 1856 English translation of the Rev. John Selby Watson. This XHTML edition is edited by Lee Honeycutt.

The EServer Rhetoric and Composition website is the third most popular Rhetoric website in the world, with dozens of volunteer editors from many universities who specialize in particular areas within the discipline. Its wiki-like interface permits it to include and link to a very wide range of materials in the field.

Technical Communication Library

The TC Library is the world's largest catalogue of online resources for people who produce, manage, archive, and distribute technical information. The community it serves includes technical communicators, editors and publishers, researchers, illustrators, animators, educators, and others who concern themselves with how to improve human communications.
