Students may earn "T" (test-out) credit for English 302 and English 314 by passing a test-out examination. The "T" credit will give students 3 credit hours toward graduation. The course will then be listed on students’ transcripts but will not influence their GPA’s.
University policy states that students may attempt a test-out for a course only once. Department eligibility requirements state that students must be at least juniors and must have completed (not just be finishing) 150 and 250. They may not be enrolled in the course at the time.
Test-out exams for English 302 and 314 are offered early in the semester, during spring and fall terms. The Director of Advanced Communication administers the test-outs.
The test itself lasts three hours, and students will take the exam in a Ross Hall computer lab. Two teachers of the course will grade the tests. All parts of the test must receive a satisfactory rating for student to earn "T" (test-out) credit. Approximately six weeks after the exam, students will receive an email message notifying them of the results.
