Maintaining Class Email Lists

Creating a Class Email List

  1. Go to https://asw.iastate.edu
  2. Login using your ISU netID and password.
  3. Select "manage lists"
  4. Select "create a classlist" and Acropolis will automatically generate a list synchronized with the registrar's current data
    • You must send to the name as generated, beginning with a semester prefix: f2002.engl.314.12.
    • If you want to check members of this list, on the ASW page go to "Show lists you have created" rather than "Show lists you own," since the registrar really "owns" the list.
  5. Select "create a list" if you want to enter names for a group individually.
    • This is a useful option for project teams or small group work

Note: Changes to email lists are not made until the following day. If you "created a classlist," adds and drops will occur automatically.

Student Email Access

Note: Because most computer classrooms are not equipped with email applications, your students may find ISU's Webmail program the easiest way to access mail on or off campus.

  1. Go to https://webmail.iastate.edu
  2. Login using netID and password.
  3. Follow on screen directions. Note: in Mac labs, use Netscape rather than Internet Explorer to send attachments.

Students with non-ISU Accounts

Students' Iowa State email addresses are included on your classlists, but students who use another mail service may rarely check their ISU account. They can easily have their mail forwarded from their Iowa State account by having them follow these directions:

  1. Go to https://asw.iastate.edu
  2. Login using Vincent username and password.
  3. Select "manage user" and "edit your e-mail delivery"
  4. Follow on screen directions.
