Logging In

PC Logins
Note: Student monitors are on duty whenever Ross Hall computer classrooms are open and during class times in Durham 91 and Residence Hall sites.
Logging on to the Desktop and AFS
This first logon gives you access to the desktop and mounts your AFS folder (1 Gigabyte of storage, created for all users by IT. Your WWW files and mail files are included).
At the Windows login screen, enter your ISU NetID and password (the same user name and password you use to check email). Windows labs accept only those passwords created after July 1, 2001; if your account was created before then, log on to https://asw.iastate.edu to update your password.
Student Access to Novell Classfiles
This second logon will give you access to the Novell classfiles for courses you are registered for.
- Exit any open applications before logging on [open applications think you're a "guest" and won't respond to "logged on user." Restart if you are unsure).
- Right-click the red "N" in the lower right task tray, then select "Netware Log In" from the menu.
At the login screen, be sure the context is CLASS.ENGL.IASTATE.US, then enter:
xcourseandsectionnumber with x as the password.
For example, a student in 302 section 9 logs in as x3029.
- Double-click the "Computer" icon to see your Novell classfiles drives mounted on the computer.
Logoff:
- SAVE CHANGES TO ANY FILES BEFORE RESTARTING!
- Select the Start icon and select "Shutdown" and "restart"
