Saving Files

  1. With the file open in any program, select "File" on the menu bar.
  2. Select "Save As" in the File menu.
  3. After select the "Save as" a small window will pop out.
  4. In the small window enter a name for the file that you want to save. [Note: Avoid file names which include "/" -- it is best to avoid all punctuation.]
  5. Select the storage disk where you want your file to be saved, using the buttons and scroll bar in the Save As window.
  6. Select the appropriate folder for saving the file.
  7. Click on the "Save" button when the appropriate folder and file name has been selected.
  8. To save a backup copy, on a storage disk or in another folder, repeat the steps from 1 to 7 again. NOTE: MWL and Ross 137 MAC LABS HAVE CD drives and burner software but no floppy or zip drives, Ross 37 and 15 have 100MB Zip drives only [use IBM formatted disks to assure compatibility].

Reminder: After making changes to a file you must perform a separate Save As to update the original and the backup copy.
