Residency
How to obtain Iowa residency for the purposes of in-state tuition.
If you are not an Iowa resident for tuition purposes, you may gain such status by meeting two criteria:
- Over a period of twelve consecutive months, you must not be enrolled as more than a half-time student. For graduate students this means no more than 5 credit hours per semester.
- You must show that you are not receiving any support from your parents.
| Graduate assistants working quarter-time or more are assessed fees at the resident rate, regardless of their residency status. |
