Information on all of the M.A. programs, the M.F.A. program, and each of their specific Program of Study requirements.

About the M.A. Degrees
The English Department offers three Master of Arts degrees: the M.A. in English; the M.A. in Rhetoric, Composition, and Professional Communication; and the M.A. in TESL/Applied Linguistics.
M.A. in English (Creative Writing)
The M.A. in English, with a specialization in Creative Writing, requires a total of 30 credits of course work. NOTE: No new admissions after August 2006.
M.A. in English (Literature)
The M.A. in English, with a specialization in Literature, requires a total of 30 credits of coursework.
M.A. in Rhetoric, Composition, and Professional Communication
The M.A. in Rhetoric, Composition, and Professional Communication requires a total of 30 credits of course work.
M.A. in TESL/Applied Linguistics
The M.A. in Teaching English as a Second Language (TESL)/Applied Linguistics requires a total of 30 credits of course work.
Language Requirements (M.A.)
Knowledge of a non-native language is required for the M.A. in English with a specialization in Literature and for the M.A. in TESL/Applied Linguistics.
POS: The Committee and the Form (M.A.)
The M.A. Program of Study (POS) committee consists of at least three members of the graduate faculty.
Guidelines for Thesis and Creative Component (M.A.)
The M.A. degree programs have a research element in addition to the required number of credit hours. These guidelines will help you complete your thesis or creative component.
About the M.F.A. Degree
The English Department offers a Master of Fine Arts degree in Creative Writing and Environment.
M.F.A. in Creative Writing & Environment
The M.F.A. in Creative Writing and Environment requires a total of 54 credits of course work. (First admission Fall 2006)

The M.F.A. Program of Study (POS) committee consists of at least three members of the graduate faculty.
