RPC Course Requirements
An outline of the 72 hours of course work required of Rhetoric and Professional Communication doctoral students.
RPC Curricular Policies and Guidelines
Policies regarding secondary core and elective courses, the linguistics requirement, concentrations, and 600-level courses.
RPC Portfolio Assessment: Qualifying Examination
Doctoral candidates in Rhetoric and Professional Communication will submit a portfolio for diagnostic assessment of their scholarly writing. If for any reason a student wishes to request a change in the procedure for the portfolio assessment, the student must write a memo to the Director of Graduate Education before the portfolio deadline specifying the request and providing a rationale for it. The Director of Graduate Education will decide whether or not the request will be granted.
RPC Preliminary Examination
Doctoral candidates in Rhetoric and Professional Communication must take the preliminary examination, which is composed of two parts -- the comprehensive written exam and the specialized exam. If for any reason a student wishes to request a change in the procedure for the preliminary examination, the student must write a memo to the Director of Graduate Education before the exam deadline specifying the request and providing a rationale for it. The Director of Graduate Education will decide whether or not the request will be granted.
