Andrea Flinn, PhD student in the Applied Linguistics and Technology program, was recently awarded a Critical Language Scholarship to study Arabic in Meknes, Morocco.  Because world events will prevent international travel this summer, she will instead be studying stateside at Middlebury College, where she’s earning her Master’s in Teaching Arabic to Speakers of Other Languages. Andrea notes that she would note have received or even applied for the scholarship if it were not for the encouragement of her classmates and instructors, especially Jeanne Beck and Dr. John Levis. Andrea also remarks:

“The CCE was incredibly supportive and encouraging throughout the application process.  I’m grateful that I can continue working with Nationally Competitive Award consultant Kristin Terrill when I reapply. She has a real talent for improving essays’ organization.  I’m not sure I understood the value of getting a second pair of eyes on a paper until I went to one of her writing consultations.”
