(Teaching Lab) Making GenAI Use Visible: Transparency, AI Literacy & Academic Integrity

Facilitated by Angela Hakim

Nearly four years after ChatGPT’s release, GenAI has become increasingly embedded in students’ academic writing and communication practices.
So, where do we go from here?
As we move beyond our initial reactions to GenAI and toward sustainable classroom practices, this Teaching Lab will explore a challenge many of us are navigating:
How can we make students’ use of GenAI more transparent, responsible, and pedagogically meaningful?

WHAT WE’LL DO
Angela will lead us through a hands-on exploration of strategies for building transparency and critical AI literacy into our classrooms.
We’ll:
→ Share and discuss how we’re currently approaching GenAI with students
→ Examine learning activities and transparency-focused tools
→ Consider how these strategies might work in our own courses
→ Develop ideas for strengthening transparency and academic integrity in our assignments and assessments
WHAT YOU’LL LEAVE WITH
Concrete ideas for learning activities, transparency tools, and assessment practices that you can adapt for your own classroom.

***Ross 212 will be open from 12:30–2:30 PM for anyone who wants to come early, stick around afterward, catch up with colleagues, or join the GenAI, transparency, and academic integrity CLC.***
