BA in English, Literary Studies
Up one levelIn this program, majors will develop their ability to analyze and interpret literary works as expressions of, and shaping forces in, culture. To this end, courses will focus extensively on situating literature within historical, theoretical, aesthetic, social/political, and ethnic contexts. Through such work, majors will also gain knowledge of the discipline's practices, specialized terminology, and research methods--all skills that will enhance students' abilities in analytical reading, writing, speaking, and research.
