Emily Dux Speltz won the 2020 Departmental Research Grant Award Winner for her project “The effect of automated fluency feedback on product and process measures.”

This project explores the potential of a computer-assisted intervention for written language production that directly encourages fluent outputting of text. This is the first study to systematically investigate automated, real-time, process-focused feedback on writing, addressing the important crossover between linguistics, the rhetoric of writing, and the psychology of text production.
