From Cordelia Press

Bird Body wrestles with the gray space of girlhood: learning how to have a body, how to weather sexual evolution and trespass, and how to become, inspite, despite. Through a surrealist lens, the speaker moves through the lessons violence has taught them, wrangling with messiness, the myth of recovery, agency, and responsibility. This work is unconcerned with innocence, occasionally rippling out to encompass the narrator in complicity, too, while insisting on grace, rest, and breath for those trying to shed learned cycles of harm.
