With Elizabeth Edward, MFA, CWE & Sneha Basu, PhD, RPC
What do you wish your students knew about you?
Elizabeth: I don’t really wish they knew, but I am explicitly sharing with them that I am quite shy and dread speaking in public. But every day with them helps me to overcome this fear.
Sneha: That I am multilingual.
What is something you have learned from your students during the first weeks of class?
Elizabeth: That change is most likely to occur when you are able to point the students in the direction they are to go.
Sneha: My students are very shy to speak in front of others.
What’s something you are passionate about (outside of ISUCOMM)?
Elizabeth: I am genuinely passionate about the arts in general and looking for more ways to interfuse written art with technology.
Sneha: I am passionate about caring for stray dogs.
What are you excited to teach in ENGL 1500/2500?
Elizabeth: I believe it is going to be an easy ride teaching personal narrative, but what I am curious about and look forward to teaching is the multimodal unit.
Sneha: I am excited to help students develop into strong writers.
If you had your own late-night talk show, who would you invite as your first guest?
Elizabeth: Oprah Winfrey.
Sneha: Chris Martin.
By the end of the semester, what one word do you hope your students will use to describe you?
Elizabeth: The word that I would love to be described as by my students is “brilliant.”
Sneha: “Kind.”
If you had to sing karaoke, what song would you pick?
Elizabeth: “I Will Always Love You” by Whitney Houston.
Sneha: “Yellow” by Coldplay.
