Resistance, a play by Taylor Sklenar, will be performed at Ames Public Library

Time

Saturday, April 05 2025 at 3:00pm

Location

Ames Public Library

Written and produced by Taylor Sklenar, lecturer in the Department of English, Resistance will finish its tour in Iowa on April 5 at the Ames Public Library. The cast and crew includes multiple department faculty and alum.
The play follows a cast of farmers over several years as they fight increasingly herbicide-resistant weeds. When a new herbicide is introduced into the community, the neighboring farmers must grapple with their differing perceptions of risk – and even with each other – as they try to move forward together. Each performance will be followed by a community conversation, where audience members will be invited to share their own stories related to the themes of the play.
Feedback from one group of audience members at their last performance included, “This performance rivals any of the theatre we’ve seen in Minneapolis, including at the Guthrie and Penumbra.” If you want to learn more about the project, you can listen to their Talk of Iowa episode or check out the landing page at https://www.ecotheatrelab.com/resistance. We hope to see you there!
