Bio
Katie Haffenden is an MA student in the TESL/Applied Linguistics program at Iowa State University. She graduated from Central College in Pella, Iowa, in December 2018, earning a BA degree in Spanish and International and Global Studies with a focus on Latin America. Shortly before graduating, she was also awarded a TEFL certification through International TEFL Academy after completing 180 hours of online coursework and an in-person internship. She has worked with English language learners of all ages as a writing tutor, ESL instructor, and accent coach. After working in higher education for the past few years, Katie is excited to return to teaching and explore her interests in teaching ESL to native Spanish speakers, second language acquisition, and foreign language assessment.
