Bio
Matt Eighmy is a writer from Rockford, Illinois. As an undergraduate student at the University of Southern California, Matt delighted in leading backpacking trips into the wilderness, participating in creative writing workshops, and eating breakfast burritos on the beach. After graduating, he briefly lived in Madrid and then Seattle, working as a tutor, before returning to the Midwest. He was an assistant gardener and Writer in Residence at Anderson Japanese Gardens in Rockford, and a prep cook at a Norwegian restaurant. He went on to earn a Master’s in Education from the University of Wisconsin, Madison. He taught middle school English for three years for Chicago Public Schools, and most recently worked for a year as a middle school librarian. Matt’s writing explores themes of mental illness, sexuality, and love of the natural world.
