Science with Cyclones promotional poster Join ENGL 3120 students for the 4th year of Science with Cyclones. Students will share multi-layered explanations of complex, scientific concepts using written, oral, and visual approaches. The presentations aim to reinforce and expand on key science concepts, and involve an interactive element to keep elementary students engaged and reinforce learning.

This event was inspired by The Flame Challenge originated by The Alan Alda Center for Communicating Science at Stony Brook University. In the Center’s Flame Challenge, scientists craft engaging explanations of everyday, yet complex, scientific concepts that can draw in an 11-year-old audience (for example, explaining a flame).
