Bio
Bryce is a writer and geologist from Maine whose work explores the connection between ancestral and natural histories. He has published creative nonfiction in the Sandy River Review and two peer-reviewed publications on the geology of Montana. Bryce is currently working on a long-form fiction project called The Natural History of Shelby, an intergenerational exploration of a Franco-American family in spiritual crisis and a Maine town’s struggle with the weight of its complicated, earthly history. Bryce’s writing is deeply inspired by the geologic history of New England as well as growing up with a Mémère (Grandmother) who was raised in a French-speaking ethnic enclave in Old Town, Maine. It is also inspired by his experiences in Montana, where he became part of the growing national tenant movement in Bozeman, conducted geologic research as a master’s student at Montana State University, and worked with disenfranchised youth. He hopes to create a body of work that sits honestly with the self-destructive politics of our time and our fragmented, yet inevitable relationship with the Earth. His favorite rock is eclogite!
