Bio
Connor Ferguson is a Lecturer in English. Ferguson graduated from Iowa State University’s MFA in Creative Writing and Environment program and University of Maine Orono’s MA in English program, and taught at Des Moines Area Community College. Throughout his professional teaching career, Ferguson instructed introductory and advanced composition courses, creative writing seminars, fiction writing workshops, and media studies courses. Beyond his work as an instructor, Ferguson assisted research and development teams for Writing Center pedagogy and critical AI literacy, and presented on the intersections of Gothic and young adult literature at the Midwest Modern Language Association Convention.
Ferguson’s creative writing focuses on speculative fiction, queer narratives, memoir, and media analysis, and has been published in +dot magazine, Antler Velvet Magazine, and Fifth Wheel Press.
When not teaching or writing, Ferguson enjoys DJing at Ames’ community radio station KHOI 89.1fm, archiving lost dance music classics, roasting and serving coffee, and exploring Ames’ many local parks.
