Graduate Program Tools and Academic Forms

The Progress to Degree Checklists are designed to help students navigate their progress to degree by providing a chronological framework that, semester by semester, lists significant milestones, forms, and ideas to consider as students fulfill Program of Study (POS) requirements and begin their professionalization.

The DPS is a form developed by the Graduate Studies Office of the English Department intended to help students plan how they will meet their major’s academic requirements. It also serves as a useful tool to help students complete the online Graduate Committee Membership and Academic Plan in Workday. Students will work on this form in consultation with their program advisor/major professor. Once it is complete, and by the designated deadline above for your program, you must submit this form electronically to the Graduate Program Office (englgrad@iastate.edu) when you have completed the Committee Membership and Academic Plan in Workday.

If changes were made to academic requirements for your major after your entry in the program, you can choose to follow the requirements in place when you began the program or you can choose to follow the new requirements. That is why there may be more than one version of your major’s DPS below.

For the concurrent graduate and undergraduate program major’s below, use the current graduate major DPS above and follow instructions found in that program’s section of the English Department Graduate Program Handbook.

  • Concurrent RCPC MA Degree with BS in Technical Communication (effective Spring 2023)
  • Concurrent TESL/Applied Linguistics MA Degree with BA in Linguistics (effective Fall 2024)
