Bio

Kristen Neumann is a fourth year PhD student in Rhetoric and Professional Communication. She graduated from Southwest Minnesota State University with a BA in Secondary English and Communication Education. After graduating, she taught English and Speech in several Minnesota high schools before joining the ISU RPC program, where she teaches ENGL 1500, 2500, and 3020. Additionally, she values cross-departmental collaborations and has held TA positions with both COMST 1010 and ACCT 4980/5900.

Her research interests include health communication – with a specific focus on advance directives and mortality education – writing education, and technical writing and instruction. Outside of academics, Kristen enjoys spending time outside camping, hiking, and canoeing, specifically in the Boundary Waters Canoe Area in Northern Minnesota.
