Bio

Kristi Baldwin is excited to join the Department of English as a Lecturer after spending the past few years as the Virtual Education Specialist with Iowa State University Extension and Outreach. Our paths may have crossed at a campus event, a CELT workshop, or while waiting in line at The Hub for a chai.
Outside of work, she enjoys spending time with her husband, John; her two sons, Joshua, a senior at Gilbert High School, and Nathan, a second-year Cyclone; and, of course, her chocolate lab mix, Clark, who graciously lets them live with him in north Ames.

She holds an Ed.D. in Educational Administration with an emphasis in Adult Learning. While much of her recent work has focused on generative AI and other emerging technologies, she has become increasingly interested in how those tools are elevating the importance of durable skills like communication, critical thinking, and collaboration. Earlier in her career, she studied writing as a learning strategy and workshop-based approaches to teaching writing and promote reading, so the opportunity to return to rhetoric and communication feels like coming full circle.
