Bio

Courses I teach

ENGL 2500: Written, Oral, Electronic Composition (for Microbiology and Genetics Learning Communities)
ENGL 3020: Business Communication
ENGL 3090: Proposal and Report Writing
ENGL 3120: Biological Communication
ENGL 3140: Technical Communication

Interest areas

  • Effects of (mis)understanding of the nature of science and scientific thinking on scientists’ communication with the general public
  • Effective collaboration with science and engineering colleagues to create relevant communication courses for students in those disciplines
  • Sustaining consistency of curricula in a large writing program

Outside of the university

When I’m not teaching or working in the Advanced Communication program here at ISU, I’m either watching my kids play soccer (my son plays number 9 or 10; my daughter plays number 4 or 6) or riding dressage. Right now, I’m training a rescue pony named Little Einstein the dressage basics and he’s teaching me patience.
