Presenters from our department will include Bethany Gray, Febriana Lestari, John Levis, Sinem Sonsaat-Hegelheimer, and Matthew Sivils.
This virtual (via Zoom) workshop will take place on two successive evenings : Wednesday, February 22 from 6-9pm and Thursday, February 23 from 6-9pm (Iowa Time). You can attend virtually from any Zoom enabled computer, but if you’d like to attend the ISU half of this workshop in person, we hope you’ll join us from 5:45-9:15pm in Ross 212 where we’ll enjoy some pizza as we learn about the work of our colleagues, both here at ISU and at SKKU.
If you plan to attend in person in Ross 212 on Wednesday, February 22 from 6-9pm and/or Thursday, February 23 from 6-9pm please RSVP by e-mailing Matthew Sivils directly by February 15, and please let him know which evening(s) you plan to attend—hopefully both!
About our partnership with SKKU
As many of you know, our department participates in an exchange program with Sungkyunkwan University’s Department of English Language and Literature. The goal of this partnership, which is funded by Korea’s Ministry of Education, is to promote international exchanges of graduate students and faculty between our departments.
When SKKU initially approached us about partnering with them, they noted “We consider your department’s graduate program an ideal partner for cooperation because of its research excellence, especially in the areas of linguistics and environmental humanities, which are the primary research interests of our department.”
In addition to workshops such as this one, future areas of cooperation may include the exchange of suitably qualified faculty members and the delivery of short intensive courses (including online courses) by invited Iowa State University faculty members, with costs paid by Sungkyunkwan University.
