Global Classroom OPEN! English faculty will teach thousands of English language teachers worldwide in this year’s Massive Open Online Course (MOOC)

English faculty will teach thousands of English language teachers across the globe how to integrate technology in their classrooms in this year’s Massive Open Online Course (MOOC).

We are pleased to announce that the MOOC Using Educational Technology in the English Language Classroom (https://www.openenglishprograms.org/MOOC), developed and delivered by a team in the English Department at Iowa State University, will be starting on May 22, 2023, and will be open to all interested individuals worldwide. The MOOC will be offered as part of the Online Professional English Network (OPEN), sponsored by the U.S. Department of State and administered by FHI 360.

Agata Guskaroska and Mahdi Duris, two PhD students in the Applied Linguistics & Technology (ALT) Program, will be the lead instructors for the course, which will also feature ALT faculty members Carol Chapelle and Volker Hegelheimer.

The MOOC is designed to provide an exceptional learning experience to language teachers (3,100 so far and counting) worldwide eager to improve their knowledge and skills in utilizing educational technology in the English language classroom. We are thrilled to offer this free opportunity to a wider audience, as it will positively impact language teaching and learning around the globe. This MOOC can empower teachers to create engaging, innovative, and effective language learning environments responding to the ever-growing need to use technology in the classroom.
