6th LINGUISTICS CHALLENGE

November 16, 2023, 8:30am-2:00pm | Great Hall, Memorial Union

After a 4-year hiatus, brought to us by the pandemic, the ISU Linguistics Challenge is returning on Thursday November 16. The Linguistics Challenge, started by Greta Muller Levis when she served as the advisor for the Linguistics program, is our recruiting event in which high school students from around Iowa visit ISU to learn about linguistics and what they can do with it as a major. It is supported by the Linguistics Program, the Linguistics Club, our department, and the LAS College.

We already have around 130 students (and their teachers) signed up to meet in the Great Hall of the Memorial Union from 8:30-12, followed by lunch and a campus tour. If you are interested, please stop by the union next Thursday to see what happens during this fun event. If you’d like to help, please let me know. With this many high school students here, the more helpers, the better! There will also be opportunities for you to meet some of the students. The schedule is below.
