April Tan is a Ph.D. student in the Applied Linguistics and Technology Program. She holds an M.A. in TESL/Applied Linguistics from Iowa State University and a B.A. in Creative Advertising with a concentration in Leadership Studies from Drake University. Her research area is in the intersection of pronunciation and dialects, theater, and technology, ultimately culminating in her interest in computational sociophonetics. She currently works at the Center for Communication Excellence (CCE) as an Academic Communications Consultant. In addition to this, April has taught ENGL 150 and ENGL 250 here at Iowa State and has also been involved in a number of ISU Theater Productions.
