Bio

Emily Dux Speltz (2023) earned her Ph.D. in Applied Linguistics and Technology, her MA in TESL/Applied Linguistics, and her BA in English from Iowa State University. She currently works as a Postdoctoral Research Associate on the ProWrite research team (PI Dr. Evgeny Chukharev) and as the lab manager for PACE Lab. Her research interests center around the applications of writing-process research to computer-assisted writing pedagogy. During her time as a graduate student, she was a research assistant and co-instructor for ENGL 222X (Artificial Intelligence and Writing) with Dr. Abram Anders. She also taught ENGL/LING 120 (Computers and Language), English 150 (Critical Thinking and Communication), English 250 (Written, Oral, Visual, and Electronic Composition), and Honors 322 (a seminar about philosophy and ethics in NBC's The Good Place). She enjoyed working as a communication consultant and the graduate assistant director at the Writing and Media Center.
