Nergis Danis is a PhD student in the Applied Linguistics and Technology program. She holds an MA in TESL/Applied Linguistics from Iowa State University and a BA in Western Languages & Literatures from Bogazici University in Istanbul, Turkey. Before coming to Iowa State, she worked as an EFL instructor for three years at Piri Reis University in Istanbul. During this time, she mostly taught academic reading and writing classes. As a graduate teaching assistant at Iowa State, she is teaching composition classes as part of the ISUComm Foundation Communication Program. Her research interests include corpus linguistics, materials design & development, and English for Academic Purposes.
